areas. This fall, the chapter takes its
leadership offerings to the next level
with the launch of its exciting, nine-month Leadership Academy.
Conceived specifically to address
unique leadership challenges and opportunities, the academy will provide
in-house counsel with the tools they
need to optimize their leadership potential and succeed at the highest levels
of their organizations. The program is
designed for a class of 30 fellows, who
will attend monthly interactive sessions. Each fellow will also participate
in a smaller cohort to optimize learning and support each other’s professional growth and development.
A task force of dedicated volunteers
built the Leadership Academy program
from the ground up over the past two
years. The process started with a series
of member surveys to identify profes-
sional development needs, which led to
the engagement of a na-
tionally recognized lead-
to drill down to the core
relationship management, and team
leadership skills. The result was the
creation of a dynamic Leadership
Academy curriculum that will be
taught by a hand-picked faculty of
nationally recognized instructors in
To help ensure that each session
delivers the tools and insights critical
to in-house counsel leadership, the
task force assembled a board of advisors to assist with the development and
delivery of each learning module. The
board is comprised of chief legal officers from a broad array of companies
and organizations across the National
Capital Region who are deeply committed to helping advance the next
generation of in-house leaders. ACC
