ACC Louisiana Presents Fifth
Annual Jazz Fest Social
On April 28, the ACC Louisiana Chapter
hosted its fifth annual “First Friday
Focus & Festival,” presented by the New
Orleans and Lafayette offices of Ogletree
Deakins. ACC members donned their
flowery dresses, sun hats, shorts, and
colorful shirts and headed to the The Jazz
& Heritage Festival in the Gentilly neighborhood of downtown New Orleans.
Attendees started their morning
at 9: 30 a.m. with a hot breakfast, and
then enjoyed an educational continuing education presentation by Dennis
Davis, Ph.D., director of client training,
Ogletree Deakins, entitled “Characters,
Caricatures, and Cutups: Modern
Day Politics and Its Legal Impact on
the Workplace.” Dr. Davis shared his
analysis and experiences, providing useful historical comparisons for
everyone to consider and encouraged
Participants then headed down
to the Hotel InterContinental lobby,
where they were whisked away on a
charter bus and dropped off at the
gates of the jazz festival to enjoy an
afternoon of music, crafts, food, and
culture, featuring locally and nationally
recognized performing artists.
The Jazz & Heritage Festival hosted
several notable musical acts, including Kermit Ruffins & the Barbeque
Swingers, and culminated with a closing performance by Harry Connick,
Jr. and his band. Local icon Harry
Connick, Sr., the longtime former New
Orleans District Attorney, made a surprise appearance. ACC New Orleans is
